php-compat software package provides Provides components to achieve PHP version independence, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install php-compat
php-compat is installed in your system.
Make ensure the php-compat package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep php-compat *
You will get with php-compat package name, version, architecture and description in a table
